Nick Catoire & Ivy States Release Disco-Tinged Remix of “See You Again”
To spotlight queer artists during Pride season this year, rising pop artist and queer singer/songwriter, Nick Catoire, teamed up with Out Magazine, The Advocate, Outloud Music festival and New York City’s leading record incubator, NY Topliner Camp to host a series of events.
Catoire’s vision; “to shine a light on the past and future of queer representation in music.”
Ivy States, a NYC based producer, claimed First Place during the Pride Takeover REMIX CONTEST, one of the events of the series, with his remix of Catoire’s single “See You Again”.
“I was so impressed with his remix. I just had to include it on my upcoming EP, ‘Stranger’,” said Catoire.
The funky and glittery nu-disco banger lit up the competition.
“When I first heard Nick’s striking vocals, I was immediately transported to a nightclub with neon-laser-lights suspended in a cloud of smoke,” says Ivy States. “At that point, I made it my mission to fill that room with the funky bassline, sparkling guitars, and disco drums I knew belonged there.”
“See You Again”, a misty and rhythmic collaboration with LA based producer, Long Boy, dazzled streaming platforms for the first time in March of this year. It was Nick Catoire’s second single release.
“This song is about the moment I felt my first love slipping away from me. I had so much hope but I wish I walked away sooner. ‘See You Again’ is almost a fantasy of me doing that,” says Catoire.
Armed with a positive, witty personality and vocal chops that would give Sam Smith a run for his money, Nick Catoire is ready to share his story of growing up as a closeted kid in the swamps of Lousiana, surrounded by drug addiction and bigotry. His mission – celebrate queer culture and share his wild ride of a life.
Influenced by the pop hooks of Sia and the soulful vocals of Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse, Catoire’s music is magically upbeat. His powerful and relatable lyrics about isolation, heartbreak and enduring hopeless romanticism will be hard to get out of your head.
Venezuelan-born, Miami-raised, and NYC-polished, Ivy States is a producer/songwriter who spent his formative years as a rapper touring the NYC scene with his band Team Scene (Brooklyn Bowl, Pianos, and The Bitter End, etc.). He has since focused on releasing music under his solo project as well as writing and producing for other artists.

“Bringing heavy feelings and hard-hitting lyrics to an upbeat and binge-worthy track is something Nick Catoire definitely excels at. EMPTY LOVE
ANNOUNCED: JUNE 24
RELEASED: JULY 2
“While Catoire’s emotive voice evokes melancholy and regret, the song musically remains upbeat. With lush synth pads and a hip hop-inspired dance beat, glitchy production gives little easter eggs like the sound of Mario getting a coin along with other little surprises. It gives the track a fun and playful vibe to juxtapose the lyrics.”
