There For You Press Release

FOR RELEASE: JUNE 27, 2025

Nick Catoire transforms a lover’s lie into a haunting queer anthem with “There For You”

Indie pop folk-R&B artist Nick Catoire returns with “There For You”, the lead single from his upcoming EP Hollow. Written in isolation and shaped by years of emotional turbulence, the track is a raw exploration of queer loneliness, self-doubt, and the aftermath of broken promises.

Nick Catoire crafted “There For You” alone in a dimly lit bedroom, shutting out the world in an attempt to protect himself from further hurt. “I guess the truth of it is that I wrote this song in isolation. Hiding myself away in a dimly lit bedroom, not wanting to be perceived, not wanting to allow the possibility of being hurt by another person. I spent the last few years feeling like a ghost. Staring at a phone screen. Distracting my brain.” Nick shares. “There was nothing around me that felt like I was living a real life. I was trying to understand if this is what it feels like to be a gay person, or if this is just what it feels like to be human. And to have been hurt. To have had the floor fall out from underneath you again.”

At the heart of the song lies a broken promise. The chorus—‘Promise I can be there for you’—echoes the words Nick was told, but the verses reveal the reality: “They weren’t there when I needed them most.” The song becomes a direct address to the person who made that promise, exposing the gap between comforting words and painful reality.

The verses of “There For You” reflect on moments of self-doubt and the fear of loneliness. “There were so many times I didn’t trust my instincts. I accepted flaws and faults because the fear of being alone was worse than the fear of being wrong,” Nick explains. “So I stayed. And when I really needed them, they weren’t there. That realization left me paralyzed—locked away, feeling half alive, being cruel to myself. And this song is the story of that. The truth of that.”

“There For You” is a song for anyone who has clung to someone’s words, only to discover they were just words. It’s for those who have been hurt by someone else but blamed themselves.”

With stripped-back acoustic production, raw vocals, and unflinching honesty, Nick Catoire invites listeners into the intimate space where heartbreak and reflection begin.

“There For You” is available now on all streaming platforms.

Nick Catoire writes songs for anyone who’s ever stared at their phone at 3 a.m. and wondered if they’d ever feel like a person again. Raised between New Orleans and Austin, Nick’s music doesn’t just sit in a genre—it wanders between indie pop, folk, and R&B, always landing somewhere honest. Whether he’s singing about heartbreak, hope, or the weird limbo between, Nick keeps it simple: honest lyrics, melodies that stick, and vocals that can be both raw and smooth in the same breath.

His latest single, “There For You,” wasn’t written in a fancy studio. It came together in a dark bedroom, with Nick trying to figure out if his loneliness is a queer thing or just an overall human thing. The chorus—“Promise I can be there for you”—hits different when you know the song is about someone who wasn’t. Nick’s music is a confession, a late-night text you never sent, and a reminder that sometimes the only person who shows up is you.

Nick’s shows, including a recent set at Austin Pride, aren’t about spectacle—they’re about connection. Fans sing along because they see themselves in the stories, and critics have called his songs “addictive,” “impossible to get out of your head,” and praised his knack for balancing catchy hooks with genuine feeling.

As he gets ready to release the upcoming Hollow EP, Nick isn’t trying to be anyone’s savior—he just wants to make music that feels real, for people who need to hear it. If you’ve ever felt like a ghost in your own life, Nick’s songs might just help you feel seen.

PREVIOUS PRESS

“Bringing heavy feelings and hard-hitting lyrics to an upbeat and binge-worthy track is something Nick Catoire definitely excels at. Turning his feelings into catchy choruses, the singer-songwriter writes both for himself, and to be the queer perspective in pop music that he’s always longed to hear.”

– TONGUE TIED MAGAZINE

“While Catoire’s emotive voice evokes melancholy and regret, the song musically remains upbeat. With lush synth pads and a hip hop-inspired dance beat, glitchy production gives little easter eggs like the sound of Mario getting a coin along with other little surprises. It gives the track a fun and playful vibe to juxtapose the lyrics.”
